Saloon comprises a series of haphazard encounters with traditional men's hairdresser and barber salons across the Middle East. Taken candidly through windows or inside the shops, these images came about as a casual observation of the conventional approach to the hairdresser practices predominantly among Indian and Pakistani communities in Kuwait and the UAE between 2003 and 2007. With their 'old school' interiors and conventional tools, the salons also acted as community centres of sorts for men living on low income and away from their families.
